Mohammad Elkhatib
Facilitator
Mohammad is one of Springboard’s Facilitators. He holds a BA and MA in English Literature and before coming to the UK, he worked as a lecturer in English Literature at the Islamic University of Gaza and the University College of Applied Sciences in the Gaza Strip. He also worked with various NGOs, including Gaza Sky Geeks.
Mohammad joined Springboard because he knows what it means and takes to flee your home country – where life left you no excuse to be and live – and start a new life in a different place, where the language, people and culture aren’t the same as they used to be. Mohammad sees himself close and able to help young people whose stories are so much like his.
Mohammad is a big advocate for human rights and women’s rights, and against apartheid, occupation and discrimination. In his free time, he reads Palestinian stories and novels: Ghassan Kanafani’s ‘Returning to Haifa’ is his favourite. He also likes to cook proper Palestinian dishes like Maqlouba, Mskhan and Fatta. He loves walking in parks, running, swimming, table tennis and football (but sorry – he thinks watching it is a waste of time!).
