Kate is one of Springboard’s founding members, and currently advises on strategy and practice, as well as delivering creative workshops when she can. She is an experienced theatre maker and youth worker who has been working with refugee communities in London since 2012. Between 2014-18 she worked in management at Afghan Association Paiwand, where she developed her interest in activist and grassroots work with young people who had come to the UK on their own.

In 2015 she co-founded Phosphoros Theatre, one of the UK’s leading refugee theatre companies, which works with refugee and asylum seeking performers as well as young people from refugee backgrounds to develop performance skills and take charge of their own narratives. She is currently completing her PhD at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she lectures in Applied Theatre and migration. She also delivers drama-based training around the UK to professionals working with refugee youth.

Kate is passionate about Springboard’s creative, inclusive and informed approach to working with newly arrived young people.
